“I have something to tell you.” Maria stopped me when I was on my way downstairs.
“I’m in a hurry, can we talk about it later?” I asked but Maria shook her head firmly. “This better be good, spill,” I said, glancing at my watch.
I couldn’t get any sleep the previous night because I kept thinking about what Lorenzo had done. I decided I couldn’t live like that anymore and was on my way to confront him.
“Carla isn’t pregnant.”
“What?” I asked, my voice tinged with shock. “What do you mean?” My expression turned serious. I hope Maria wasn’t playing games with me.
“I overheard her conversation one day, she was talking to her friend but she had no idea I was there.” Maria continued. “She just lied about being pregnant to stay in your life?”
