THE STRANGER AGAIN
BETTY'S POV
I stared at the first line for what felt like forever, moving my finger slowly underneath the words as I tried to make sense of them.
“Maybe I should just skip this one.”
I muttered to myself, looking at the sentence again.
I knew some of the words now. Not all of them, but enough to understand what the sentence was trying to say, so I tried sounding it out again, slowly putting one word after another together until I reached the third one and got stuck.
“Why are you so difficult?”
I frowned at the book like it had personally offended me.
“It's literally just one word.”
I tried again, but the letters still refused to make sense in my head, and after a few more seconds of staring at them, I sighed and leaned back in the chair.
