Harper woke slowly the next morning, still wrapped in the heavy blankets and the faint scent of wood smoke mixed with Quinn’s skin. The bed felt emptier. She blinked against the gray light coming through the frosted windows and sat up, her thermal top twisted around her body. Her panties were still slightly damp from the restless night, and her thighs pressed together at the memory of Quinn’s firm leg between them. She heard the steady thunk of an axe outside.
