“He said you can go, Zoey,” Eve said, her voice solemn. “But make sure to be careful, and don’t hesitate to call me if this is just some sick prank.”
I stood up from the couch and straightened my dress. “Sure, I’ll call you, but I hope that won’t be the case,” I replied, letting out a deep exhale.
Eve nodded. “Yeah, I hope so too.”
Just as she was about to leave, I called her name and she paused. “Thank you, Eve,” I whispered, expressing gratitude.
