“Sean! Sean!” I could hear Zoey’s voice but I was too focused on the fight with Conrad to give her any attention.
I wanted him to feel every ounce of anger that had been boiling inside me. My fists connected with his jaw, but he barely staggered before lunging back at me.
The sounds of our blows echoed in my ear, drowning out everything else.
But Zoey’s cries grew louder. “Sean, can you just respond!” She demanded but I didn’t answer. “Conrad, please!” She added after a few more moments.
Conrad paused and pushed me away.
Then he turned around to look at Zoey.
I turned around immediately.
My eyes grew wide in shock when I saw Zoey sitting in a pool of blood. But I had no idea where it came from.
Conrad and I froze, the fight draining out of us
