Evelyn’s POV
Both Kane and I scrambled to throw on proper clothes and make our way back to the medical ward. I couldn’t believe it.
At first, I thought I’d misheard Henri when he spoke. But there was no denying the shock, nor the look of sheer astoundment. My heart thrummed frantically inside my rib cage.
“How are his vitals?” I asked Henri, breathlessly.
“I’m not entirely sure,” he said. “I was just informed of his status by one of the guards who was stationed outside of his door.”
I was so eager to find out what shape this rogue was in that I nearly tripped over my feet at least twice. Kane even made it a point to hold me by my upper arm to ensure that I wouldn’t end up clipping one of the corners in the hallway.
We got to the restricted side of the ward and, indeed, the rogue
