I cried over Kinsley that night.
That pissed me off almost as much as it hurt.
“She slept with my husband.”
Benny sat beside me on the bed, close enough that our legs touched. “Yeah.”
I wiped angrily at my face.
“She knew what he did to me. She knew, Benny.”
“I know.”
“She helped me hide money from him.”
Across the room, Nixx leaned against the dresser and listened without interrupting.
“She covered bruises when I couldn’t reach them. She watched Millie. She knew when I was lying about walking into a cabinet because she was usually the person helping me cover whatever the cabinet supposedly did.”
My laugh broke halfway out, and I pressed both hands against my face.
“I hate her.”
Neither man told me I didn’t.
That mattered.
“I miss her too.”
They didn’t tell me I couldn’t
