For half a second, the courthouse steps disappeared beneath me.
“Millie.”
“She’s safe.” Nixx already had his phone to his ear. “Smitty’s at the house.”
That helped enough for me to breathe again.
Benny pulled out his own phone while Marissa stood beside us, concern replacing the satisfied expression she had worn leaving the courthouse.
Nixx turned away when Jarek answered. “Tell me exactly what you have.”
I watched his face while he listened. Nixx went still when his brain started working, every part of him tightening around the problem.
“How recent? Any visual on who’s inside?”
He listened, then said, “Send it.”
