I woke up in bed. At first, I had no idea how I got there.
Millie was curled beneath the blanket beside me, her rabbit tucked beneath her chin, and the room was dark except for the thin strip of hallway light coming through the cracked door. I remembered falling asleep against Benny on the couch, but everything after that was blank.
Nixx must have carried us upstairs, it couldn’t have been Benny.
I smiled into the pillow and started to turn onto my side when voices drifted up from downstairs.
Benny.
Then Nixx.
Not yelling exactly, but louder than either of them usually talked when Millie was asleep.
