I was out the door before the sun had fully dropped.
Sitting still wasn't going to find Rook, and thinking in circles wasn't going to protect anyone. I needed names, places, habits, mistakes. Something real.
I headed for the main building and pulled out my phone.
I texted Leo.
"Meet me at the main building. Five minutes."
He texted back. "On it."
I left my section. Headed to the main building.
Leo was already there. Waiting by his bike.
"What's up, Prez?"
"We're going into town. Asking around about Rook. People who might know him."
"You think they'll talk?"
"Some might. Some won't. But we're going to find out."
We got on our bikes. Rode out through the gate.
The road was empty. Quiet.
I thought about what Kane said. Rook was smart. Patient. Knew how to move around.
