(Cassidy) The water was cooler than I expected but I didn't mind. I moved further out until the noise of the beach felt distant. Not gone. Just far enough away that it was easy to ignore. The sun was out and the water was calm and for the first time since Zander appeared I could feel my shoulders actually relax. I turned around. Dane was sitting on the towel watching me. I lifted a hand and motioned for him to come over. He shook his head. I did it again. He looked at the water like it had personally offended him. Then he looked back at me. Then he pulled his shirt over his head and dropped it on the towel and walked in. I smiled and turned away before he could see it. He reached me a minute later.
