We worked through the contracts for another half hour.
Most of it was routine. Renewal dates. Supplier agreements. Figures that needed checking before they went to Leo. It was familiar work. The kind I'd been doing for years without thinking too hard about it.
I gathered the contracts into one stack and slid them across the table.
"I miss this," I said. The words came easier than I expected.
Ridge nodded once.
"I know," he said.
"I can't wait for these two weeks to be over," I said. "I'd rather know what's happening than be kept out of it because I'm on leave."
