When I wake, it’s a slow process. I feel sluggish, but I can smell Yhen’s scent, I can hear his heart beating in my ear so I know I’m lying on his chest, and my head is moving up and down with his breaths. He's alive and here with me.
“She’s stronger than I realized,” I hear Cal say.
“She was burning herself out,” Yhen says softly. His hand is in my hair, gently massaging my head and making it harder for me to come awake. “Anguish will do that. I’m sure you understand.”
“I do,” Cal says.
“She’s coming around now,” Yhen says.
“Good. I was starting to worry about her. Doc said she just needed rest, but I’ve never seen a dragon sleep that long.”
‘How long?’ I meant to say it out loud but Yhen answers me in my head.
‘Three days, my dragon.’
