I returned from Japan a day earlier than expected.
My team believed I wanted extra rest after the race.
That was partly true.
The other part was something I did not want to examine too closely.
I wanted to see my children.
And perhaps confirm with my own eyes that Riley had not destroyed the house.
The car had barely stopped in front of the mansion before the front door flew open.
“Daddy!”
Sophie came running down the steps with her arms spread wide.
I quickly stepped out and crouched just in time for her to throw herself against me.
I lifted her into my arms.
“Hey, princess.”
“You came home!”
“I did.”
“You said tomorrow.”
“I changed my mind.”
She kissed both my cheeks before pulling back.
Her hair was arranged in two neat braids with pink ribbons tied at the end
