"You look gorgeous." Blake admired to the ear of all that would listen as they got on their bikes. “I got you a new helmet.” Blake lifted a striking black helmet, its bald eagle etched in flowing gold around the brown feathers. I gave up the childish pink helmet my father had bought me years ago, never planning to ride on the back of his motorcycle again. I never expected to wear, own, or be given one as beautiful as the gift Blake now gave to me. I took it in my hands, admiring the detail of the gold-lined eagle. The bird of prey’s brown feathers flawlessly danced backward, giving the feeling of speed. The green was a dark emerald, and oddly, my favourite colour.
