I woke to static again. Not the normal kind. Not the soft prickling at the edge of my aura that came when my wolf stretched in her sleep. No. This felt like someone dragging a fork through a radio and wiring the whole thing directly to my spine. I sat up so fast Jack groaned beside me. Beau cursed from the other side. I pressed my hand over my heart and hissed, “If this man annoys me from jail one more time, I am flipping his whole containment unit. I swear it.” Jack mumbled, “Which man?” “The one in our basement,” I snapped. Beau sat up and sniffed the air like he expected the culprit to be hiding behind the curtains. “Aurek shouldn't be able to reach you from down there.” Tell that to the static drilling my brain. A cold pulse ran across my aura. It crackled so sharply I flinched.
