I read it twice.
“My dress was not laced.”
Kael nodded. “We discussed that.”
“Then why does it say it was?”
“The communications office believed the public would understand the wording more easily.”
“The public will also have photographs of the dress.”
Salas crossed his arms. “Most people will not inspect the construction of the gown. Those determined to prove we are lying will inspect every seam.”
“They will argue about it regardless,” Kael added.
I looked toward Thoren. “I am not releasing a statement with a detail that is demonstrably false.”
He leaned closer to read the screen. “Change it to restrictive bodice.”
“That still suggests the dress caused the episode.”
“It contributed to the heat and discomfort,” he said. “That portion is believable without blaming Lauren’s work.”
