My consciousness came screaming back. I gasped and sat up as fast as I could, my eyesight blurry. Dizziness engulfed me and I fell straight back with a groan, closing my eyes.
“Baby!” Joel’s voice shattered the silence around me and my eyes popped open.
My focus sharpened and I looked around me. Then noise registered. I heard the beeping of a heart monitor, I felt a slight pain in my hand from the IV. I looked to my side where Joel was holding my other hand looking at me with concern. What happened?
“Hey,” I croaked. Joel quickly got me some water. He helped me sit up, and I sipped at the straw that was pressed to my lips.
“Don’t drink too fast. You’ve been out a whole day,” he said.
I looked from the cup to around my room. I noticed the lights were dim, outside the wind
