“I’m just calling to check in on you and the girls. How’s New York treating you?” Kaiden’s voice echoed from the other end of the line.
I ran my fingers through my hair. “I can’t say yet, I’ve only been here for a day,” I responded as I walked to the balcony of my hotel suite. The city view was breathtaking, stretching out endlessly before me.
“That’s great to hear. Can I talk to the girls?”
I knew exactly why Kaiden requested to speak to the girls. He just wanted to confirm where I was staying. So I decided to tease him a little.
“They are upstairs, sleeping in their room.”
Kaiden gasped. “You mean you’re staying with Lucas?” I could sense the mixture of surprise and disappointment in his voice.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “No, I’m just teasing you
