I had spent exactly a week in Japan.
Lily had successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant.
But I couldn’t leave. Not when Layla had refused to introduce me to the kids as their father. I knew Akira wasn’t my biological daughter, but it wasn’t fair to claim only one of the girls.
Aside from that, Layla had been making different excuses whenever I talked about the introduction. I didn’t know what to do but my patience was wearing thin.
I had put my life in New York on pause, but I couldn’t stay in Japan indefinitely. I had tried my best to convince Layla to introduce me to them, but she didn’t agree.
I just wanted to get it over with and think of the next step I would take to rebuild my family. But it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be.
