I froze as I watched them interact with each other.
Soon enough, the person she was speaking to walked into the room. Was he her boyfriend? I was stunned and didn’t even know what to say.
He walked over to the bed and examined Lily.
I knew he wasn’t the doctor.
He looked so concerned and I could tell that he was close to Lily. I wanted to stand up and introduce myself as Lily’s father. But I didn’t want to upset Layla.
When the man was done, he turned around to look at me. “Pardon my manners, hey.” He waved at me, forcing a smile. I could see right through him.
He wasn’t happy that I was present.
He must’ve been the person who answered Layla’s phone the other day.
