Ethan had already chosen a movie by the time we entered the living room. He was sitting beside Vivian with a bowl of popcorn between them. Nathaniel joined him on the sofa while I settled into the armchair. Our son immediately began explaining why he'd selected a movie about animals.
"Mommy, Grandma says we can make more popcorn if we finish this," Ethan announced. "And Dad has to watch the whole movie." He pointed toward Nathaniel. "No answering work calls."
Nathaniel raised both hands in surrender. Ethan laughed and offered him some popcorn. Vivian started the movie while I watched my husband settle beside our son. Seeing them together had become one of my favorite parts of living here.
