Chapter 372

789 Words

Scarlett POV For the past few days, Ryan and I had had no contact at all. It felt like going back to the period when he hadn’t been satisfied with my performance and had considered firing me. Whenever he had something work-related to tell me, he’d send someone else to pass along the message, as if he were deliberately drawing a line between us. I hadn’t fallen deeply for him. At most, I’d developed a little crush, so his behavior wasn’t exactly breaking my heart. Maybe I was imagining it, but I kept catching people sneaking glances at me. Staying late suddenly made me uncomfortable, so I’d started leaving on time. “Still in a bad mood?” Jaxen asked. He sat down in the armchair beside the sofa. His gaze lingered briefly on my long, pale legs before settling on my face.
