Regina walked back over. The smile on her face disappeared the moment she looked at me. “I already invited Jaxen over for dinner tonight. He said Yes. I’m giving you two a chance to talk things out properly, so behave yourself.”
“I don’t want to force myself,” I said, digging my fingers deep into the sofa cushion.
“You don’t want to force yourself, but you’re fine forcing Jaxen?” Regina continued. “Come on, this is exactly when you need to protect your position!”
“Regina, I don’t understand what you mean.”
“No matter how good those other women are, as long as you don’t step aside, they’ll always stay in the shadows. Don’t push Jaxen completely toward them.”
“So you want me to turn a blind eye and pretend I don’t see Jaxen with other women?”
