What does Regina already know? My mind wouldn't stop turning it over.
I stared at the phone's dark screen for a long moment before I set it down.
"What'd she say?" Delaney asked, watching me carefully.
"She's heard about the divorce." I rubbed my temples. "That's all I know."
The next morning, sunlight cut through curtains too thin to block it.
I forced my eyes open, gritty from three nights on Delaney's small bed and a mattress that had never once agreed with my spine.
