I hadn’t even finished what I was saying, but Ryan already understood what I meant.
“So you’re worried about your ex-husband, and you’re not ready to start something new right now?” he asked directly.
“Yes.”
I didn’t see any reason to hide it.
“That’s okay.” His voice remained calm.
“I can wait until you’ve dealt with your ex-husband. I’m not in a rush.”
He paused before adding, “As long as you have no intention of getting back together with him, I have plenty of patience. I’ll wait until there’s no chance of reconciliation between you two, until he finally stops focusing all his attention on you.”
That made me feel incredibly awkward.
Because I couldn’t exactly tell him I did not know how to deal with Jaxen.
Jaxen was everywhere. It didn’t matter where I went.
