*Jacob*
-flashback-
I fall backward, hitting my head on the ground. Reaching up, I grow scared when I find blood on the back of my head. “Ouch,” I say as tears begin to spill over as hard as I try to keep them from doing so.
“You baby,” one of the older boys says with a laugh before running off.
“Jacob,” a nun says as she rushes over to me. “What happened?”
I can’t tell her that they pushed me again. Last time, the older boys me again for it. “I fell off the monkey bars.”
She clearly doesn’t believe me as she reaches back to inspect the cut. “When did you fall? It is almost healed.”
“I… I don’t know,” I lie. This keeps happening, and they all think that I’m lying now.
“Come on,” she says, helping me to stand. “We’ll have the nurse take a look and get you cleaned up.”
