Chapter 16 The clinic remained unusually quiet after Sage's words. Even after she had left with her father's members. Jace stood near one of the examination tables with his hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans. His black Henley shirt was rolled to his elbows, revealing the faded scars that came with years of road fights, club business, and being raised in a motorcycle club. Normally, he would've been barking orders by now. Normally, he'd have moved on. Instead, his mind kept replaying one thing. “Please don't send me back.” The desperation in her voice wouldn't leave him alone. It wasn't the attitude she'd been throwing around since she walked into the clinic. It had been fear….Raw fear. The kind of fear people couldn't fake. Something twisted uncomfortably in his stomach.
