I was in the middle of a talk with Rafael when my phone suddenly rang. I stared at it, then back at him.
“Who’s calling?”
I showed him my screen. It was Serena.
He frowned and checked his phone. “Why is she calling you and not me? Put it on speaker.”
I shook my head with a chuckle, but answered the call and put it on speaker. “Hi, baby. Is anything wrong?”
There was a pause on the other end before she spoke. “Why do you assume something is wrong?”
“Because you never call me while you’re at work.”
“Oh,” she chuckled. “Well, Marcus just called me.” Rafael and I sat up straighter at those words.
“What did he say?” Rafael questioned.
“You’re with Rafael?” She asked.
“Yeah, he’s listening.”
“Well, Marcus was basically implying that he’ll drag me into the lawsuit
