Lila was much more excited than I was to go office hunting. I wasn’t sure if she slept on the plane or not but she woke me up as soon as she came in with a large cup of coffee and a bag of donuts that were way too sweet to be healthy.
I didn’t complain.
I needed the distraction. I needed her presence. Tessa always wanted to come with me but she was stuck at some event.
“You’re not doing this alone,” she announced like I had any plans on doing it alone in the first place. “I have strong opinions. I won’t let you start your empire in a depressing box.”
“Get out, Lila,” I laughed. “Let me shower at least.”
