The next morning, when Abril woke up to find Alessandro sleeping beside her, holding her in his arms, she wondered what time he had arrived and how things had gone in the city.
She felt a bit guilty, as her duty as queen was to look after the people of her kingdom, but she had stayed in the palace to care for her daughter.
Lissana was snuggled up beside her. Abril stroked her brown hair and ran a finger across her face. She was a very beautiful girl, who bore a great resemblance to her father.
Abril hugged her little one, and as she shifted, Alessandro woke up and pulled them both closer, including Lissana. Abril was caught between them.
