Watching Zaid storm out of his office with Ember over his shoulder, I can’t help but chuckle and reach for my glass of water. The kid seems to have thrown himself into the dog house with his actions.
“Damn it, Zaid! Put me down!” The sound of Ember’s snarl echoes through the halls into the office, surprising the two she-wolves and myself as we all turn to the door.
“Has she ever snarled like that?” Selane asks in shock, turning to look at Sadie.
“No. This is the first time I’ve heard her snarl at all,” Sadie answers, her voice a whisper.
