I looked at Julian, waiting to see whether he would allow my mother inside. She had defended him every time I told her what he had done. Now she was standing outside his gates with Mrs. Harris and an attorney. I couldn't understand what had made her come here.
"Let them inside, Julian."

"Your mother should have called before arriving."
