Emma's POV. I woke early the next morning. The sky outside was still a dismal gray and everything was covered in a blanket of icy snow. It took me a few seconds to remember where I was. I looked around the room. A fire was still burning in the fireplace and gave the room a warm, comforting glow. Shaun was dozing in an armchair next to the bed. He looked peaceful but exhausted. My heart still ached with a deep longing for my baby, but I had to admit that I was feeling a little bit better. My head felt clear for the first time in weeks. Like the fog had finally lifted and cleared away. It felt like I had woken up from the longest, most horrible nightmare of my life. I sighed heavily, sat up, and rubbed my tired eyes. Shaun woke sleepily and stretched. He sat up when he saw me. He smiled.
