“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU LOST HER!?”
“We’re incredibly sorry, Gamma, but we completely lost her trail about fifty miles outside the territory,” the guard replied, bowing his head. “She entered the city, and the scent went entirely cold. On top of that, she dumped her phone and all of her bank cards.”
“What about her computer? Her tablet?” her father demanded, his voice shaking with fury.
“They’re all still here in her room.”
“Then power them up! She may have left a digital footprint—”
“We already tried, sir,” the guard interrupted gently. “She completely wiped the hard drives and reset everything back to factory settings. It’s like they were never used. On top of that, the circuit boards are totally fried and outdated. There’s absolutely no way of tracking her through them.”
