I'm standing near the training yard at Silverpeak watching warriors practice when I hear two warriors talking behind me.
"Did you hear about that female? The one who came here with Daniel?"
"Ashley? What about her?"
"She's dead. Found her body near our territory yesterday. Poisoned."
I freeze. Turn around. The two warriors notice me and stop talking.
"What did you say?" I ask.
They look uncomfortable. "Sorry. We didn't realize you were there."
"What happened to Ashley?"
The first warrior hesitates. "Her body was found in a clearing three miles from here. Someone poisoned her. Silver and wolfsbane based on the smell."
I walk away from them without another word. Head toward the edge of Silverpeak territory.
