I'm walking through the training yard watching warriors practice defensive formations when Kim approaches me. His face is serious.
"Alpha, Ashley is dead. We found her body three miles from Silverpeak territory."
I stop walking. Ashley. Dead.
"How?" I ask.
"Poison. Based on the smell coming from her skin, it smells like silver and wolfsbane. But we aren't completely sure. There's an injection mark on her neck."
I motion for Kim to follow me away from the training warriors. We walk toward the edge of the yard where we can talk privately.
"Where exactly?"
"In a clearing. She's been dead for a few hours based on the body temperature."
"Any signs of what happened?"
"The ground around her was disturbed but no signs of a fight. Looks like she was surrounded. Couldn't escape."
