Lumi’s POV
I look away first, not minding that he’s still staring at me to say something.
Clover exhales dramatically. “Oh, this is not how I planned to die.”
“We’re not dying,” I mutter, not sure of what I was saying. “Relax.”
“You say that now, but it’s been ten minutes—”

A few minutes pass. Clover leans toward me, her voice low enough that it doesn’t carry.
“This is what you wanted huh.”
I don’t look at her. “What?”
She nudges my arm lightly. “Don’t play dumb. You came out tonight acting like you had something to prove.”
I exhale slowly, eyes now on him. He’s focused, unbothered. That shouldn’t annoy me, but it does.
“I didn’t want this,” I say finally.
Clover hums. “No? Because from where I’m sitting, you walked straight into it.”
