3 Trust Me

1800 Words
Fawn POV The minute Seth steps out of the room, I say a silent prayer of thanks to the goddess for distracting him. "Luna" he starts to say, but I cut him off. "I don't care about Seth's orders, I'm not drinking a drop of that medicine," I say pointing to the glass in his hand. He looks at me like I'm a puzzle at first before a wide smile spreads across his face. "You know what he has planned. You weren't unconscious. You heard us talking," he says. "I have no idea what you are talking about." "Luna, I am not here to harm you or your pup," he says. Fear settles in my chest. I have no reason to trust this man. He was alpha commanded to give me something to get rid of my pup. To ensure I can never have another pup. I know that means that he cannot disobey Seth. "I know you have no reason to trust me, but I'm telling the truth. We don't have much time before the alpha returns. The wolves will be gone as soon as he reaches the border to deal with them," he says. "The wolves at the border. You are responsible for the rogue's attack." "Well, it wasn't an attack and they weren't rogues. In fact, they are the men that are going to help you escape this place," he says. "I don't understand, he alpha commanded you. There is no way you can disobey his orders." He smiles and starts to move toward me. I immediately scramble toward the bed, putting a barrier between us. I may not have a wolf's strength, but I will fight with my last breath to protect my pup. He walks toward the bathroom and returns a few seconds later with an empty cup. Now I'm really confused. "It was simply kale and other green vegetables blended together, but I had a feeling you wouldn't trust me enough to drink it, so I flushed it," he says. "I think we can trust him, Fawn," Juniper says. "You have a wolf" he says. My eyes snap to his. "How do you know that?" "My wolf is special, just like yours. My mother isn't an ordinary wolf. Now as much as I want to explain exactly what that means, we have more pressing matters to discuss before the alpha returns," he says. I nod, and he sets the cup on the nightstand next to my bed. "In two days you are going to need to complain that you are in excruciating pain while gripping your stomach. He needs to believe that you are losing the pup. Once I have you in the hospital, I'm going to insist you stay overnight for observation after I have told him you miscarried. The same wolves that served as a distraction tonight will do the same in order to get the Alpha out of your room. The minute he's gone we will need to shift and run," he says. "I can't shift. I've never shifted, but if I could, I can't while carrying my pup." "We will shift when it is time to leave this place and that ba**ard who promised to love us. I will protect our pup. I know you don't understand everything yet, Fawn, but you will in time. For now, you need to trust him. I feel he will be important to us," she says. I take a deep breath just as the door to the room bangs open. I practically jump out of my skin when Seth comes to a skidding stop in front of me. "You were afraid. I felt it. What happened," he asks, looking me over like I am the most precious thing in his world. A day ago I would have believed that was true, but now I know better. "I'm fine. I wasn't afraid I was disgusted by that awful juice you and Dr. Evans insisted I drink. It tasted awful. I almost threw up. I'm never drinking that again." Sadness flashes in his eyes. It's gone as quickly as they came. "I'm sorry sweetheart, but the medicine was necessary. Dr. Evans said that you needed it to replenish all the vitamins you were lacking that caused you to pass out," he says. "Well then, I will not push so hard going forward because I'm never taking it again." He cups my cheeks and for the first time I see something like regret in his eyes. "You won't have to take it again, my love," he says. I brace myself for the kiss I know is coming. Bile rises in my throat as his lips are a wisp away from mine. Before they actually touch, I gag and cover my mouth with my hand. I pull out of his hold and rush for the bathroom. I'm grateful when he doesn't follow me as I fall to my knees in front of the toilet. I dry heave but nothing comes out. Dr. Evans pokes his head inside after asking my permission. "Luna, the alpha wanted me to check on you. He fears he won't be able to handle seeing you sick again. It would upset both him and his wolf. I see nothing came up. That's good you kept the medicine down. That should help with the nausea," he says loud enough for my pr*ck of a mate to hear. "Thank you, Dr. Evans. I'm grateful for your help, even if it was disgusting." He offers me a warm reassuring smile. "Of course, Luna. I will check on you tomorrow. Please try to get some rest tonight. No excitement or strenuous activity," he says. Thank you, I mouth to him, grateful for an excuse not to be touched by my treacherous mate. He turns to leave, and I brush my teeth before rinsing with mouth wash. When I step back into our room, Seth is sitting on our bed with his head in his hands. "Are you alright Seth?" He looks up and offers me a smile, but it doesn't reach his eyes. Is he having second thoughts? Does he regret betraying me or trying to kill our pup? It doesn't matter if he does, but I can't help but wonder. "I just love you so much, Fawn. I would never be able to go on without you. I hope you know that," he says as he gets to his feet. He moves to stand in front of me just as his eyes glaze over. When they finally clear, guilt flashes in them. "I have to attend to a pack dispute, my love. I want you to rest, and I'll be back as soon as I can to hold you. After this is dealt with, I'll ask my father to attend to any further pack needs for the day. I love you, Fawn," he says before pressing a kiss on my forehead. The thought of his touch now that I know who he truly is makes my skin crawl. Dr. Evans follows him after giving me a slight bow. I debate whether to shower again to wash away his touch or to just crawl into bed. I decide a quick shower will help me sleep. Ten minutes later, I'm in comfortable clothes pulling down the bedsheets. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm exhausted. Learning that you are not only pregnant but that your mate plans on terminating your baby while he f**ks his heir into another she-wolf is quite draining. I chuckle at my thought as I climb into bed. I lay my hands on my still flat belly and say a silent prayer to the goddess to protect my pup. Even if my ba**ard of a mate doesn't want them, I do. I'm just starting to doze off when the pain that rips through my belly has me sitting up in bed. I take a few deep breaths. "Juniper, is this hurting our pup?" If she said yes, I swear I wouldn't be waiting the two days. "No, I'm protecting them from the pain. I'm so sorry, Fawn," she says. "What are you sorry for? You did nothing wrong." "Maybe if I showed myself when was expected they wouldn't have believed you were weak," she says. I hate that she is blaming herself. "No, Seth is the only one to blame. I'd bet even if he knew I had a wolf he would still have chosen to betray me because of my rank. I'm sorry for not being enough." "Don't you ever say that again, Fawn. You are more than he ever deserved. We are meant to be more than Alpha Seth's Luna. He isn't worthy of us or our pup," she says. I force myself off the bed. I dress quickly and make my way through the pack house following Seth's scent. The pain in my stomach is a dull ache. I know it's Juniper's doing that I can no longer feel the intensity of Seth's betrayal. "Are you sure about this Fawn," Juniper asks. "Yes, I need to see it with my own eyes. I need to let the image of him f**king someone that isn't me be burned into my mind." I realize quickly that I am heading toward the kitchen. When I step inside, it's empty, but I can hear the sound of flesh slapping flesh. I fight the bile that rises in my throat. Seth's voice has my steps flattering as I make my way toward the pantry. "Don't forget exactly what you are wh*re. You are nothing to me. The only woman I love is Fawn. You are simply a vessel to have our pups. Don't ever summon me again or I will snap your f**king neck," he says before I hear the familiar grunt of his release. I move quickly, looking through the gap in the door. He hasn't pulled himself from her body. His hand is fisted tight in her hair, and she is whimpering. "Do you understand your place or should I just move onto someone who doesn't need to be reminded of her place constantly, Gabriella. You are nothing to me. If I didn't need a strong heir I wouldn't even know you existed," he says. Seeing him so cold and cruel has the bile rising in my throat. "I'm sorry, Alpha. I'll never link you again. I just thought we should take advantage of my most fertile time. I will wait for you to call for me to come to you. I know my place," she says. If she wasn't f**king my mate, I would almost feel bad for her. I'm just about to step back, having seen more than enough when a hand wraps firmly around my arm. Panic washes over me.
