I'm not sure how much time passes before Derek returns, but he is smiling like the cat that ate the canary when he steps into the room. I'm half tempted to ask him why, but I'm not sure if I want the answer. Especially if it's about Derek and Vanessa. "How are you feeling, Fawn," he asks. "Much better than I was earlier. Do you think this will keep happening if I don't break the bond with him? I have no desire to return to the pack, but I will if my pup is at risk."
