I looked from Lyrienne to the Celestial Stone. Vaela had gone completely quiet inside me, but I could feel how badly she wanted me to move closer. My mother still had her hand held out toward me. I placed mine in hers and stood.
"Do I just touch it?"
Lyrienne led me from the chamber.
"That's all I did."
I followed her toward the stone while Caius came with us. Zeron and Raith stayed near the entrance to the chamber, giving us space. The divided circle on the stone seemed larger now that I stood directly in front of it. I couldn't stop wondering what would happen when I placed my hand against it.
'Are you ready?'
Vaela moved closer.
'Yes.'
Her answer came without hesitation. I wished I felt as certain as she did. Every new thing I'd learned about being Celestial had changed
