SELENA POV
“Do I know you from somewhere?”
My heart nearly jumped out of my chest.
For a second, just one terrifying second..I thought I had been caught. That he had remembered.
That he would suddenly recognize the woman who had shared a night with him and disappeared. That he had seen me as one of those cheap whore..No…I can't let him catch on
I forced my face to remain calm.
I shook my head immediately.
“No.”
My voice came out surprisingly steady, even though inside my chest my heart was racing like a runaway train.
Then why the hell are you not apologizing? I screamed inwardly at myself.
His dark eyes narrowed slightly, studying me like I was some strange creature he couldn't quite figure out.
“Then why the f**k are you not apologizing?” he said coldly.
Typical...Rich. Arrogant. Annoying. The type of man who believed the world owed him courtesy just because he existed.
I simply looked away and muttered under my breath.
“Crazy man.”
Thank God he didn’t recognize me.The last thing I needed today was explaining why I left money beside his bed like he was some paid escort.
The memory flashed through my mind and heat rushed to my face.
God.
I wanted to dig a hole in the ground and bury myself.
Before the tension between us could grow worse, a man suddenly ran toward us holding another cup of coffee.
He looked out of breath, like he had sprinted across the entire street.
“I’m sorry, sir! I’m sorry!”
He kept bowing like his life depended on it.Which, judging from the icy look on the arrogant man's face, it probably did.
The cold man glanced at me again with visible irritation.
“Is she mute or something?” he muttered.
Then he added with clear disgust,
“Ahh… I hate beggars.”
My jaw tightened.
Bastard.
My fingers curled slightly, nails pressing into my palm, but I stayed silent.Fighting him here would achieve nothing.
Besides, judging by his expensive suit and arrogant aura, he was definitely someone powerful. The kind of man who could ruin a stranger's life without even trying.
He turned away as if I didn’t exist.Like I was nothing more than an annoying piece of trash in his path.
The other man glanced at me apologetically and bowed slightly.
I bowed back at him out of pity.It must be hard working with someone like that.
The arrogant man stepped into a sleek black car waiting by the curb.
My eyes widened slightly.
That car…
Even someone like me who knew nothing about luxury cars recognized it.I had seen pictures of it before online.
One of those limited-edition luxury machines that only a handful of people in the world owned.
The kind that screamed money.
Old money.
Dangerous money.
Wow.
I folded my arms and scoffed lightly.
“He’s fine… too bad his character doesn’t match his face.”
Then realization hit me.
Wait...I blinked.
“I can’t believe I dropped money for that f*****g rich man.”
I slapped my forehead lightly.
“You must be crazy, Selena.”
I chuckled bitterly to myself.
Seriously.
Out of all the stupid things I had done in my life, that one ranked pretty high on the list.
My coffee mood was completely ruined. With a tired sigh, I booked a cab and headed back to the hotel.
The hotel room was small.
Cheap. The paint on the walls was slightly chipped and the air conditioner made a low buzzing sound every few seconds.
I had left my ATM at Kelvin place, I don't want anything of his, not his money.
I will have to pick my life up.I dropped my bag carelessly beside the bed and collapsed onto the mattress. My body sank into the thin sheets.
The moment I picked up my phone, it buzzed nonstop.Calls. Messages. Notifications.
Everyone was suddenly interested in my life.My parents. Adriana. Even unknown numbers.
My thumb hovered over the screen as the notifications kept popping up.Then I saw one name that made my lip curl. Calista.
Wow.
The queen of acting.
She even had the nerve to call me.After everything she had done.
The audacity. I rolled my eyes and switched my phone off completely.
The screen went dark.Silence returned to the room..Good. I needed rest.Because tomorrow…
Tomorrow, Safety Mil Hospital was going to hear from the crazy Selena Suarez. The side I had buried for years.
Morning came faster than expected.
And surprisingly, I had slept well.Maybe revenge helped sleep.Or maybe I was simply too exhausted to stay angry.
I stood in front of the small mirror adjusting my outfit.Crazy ripped jeans.A black crop top.And heels.
If people expected a broken, pitiful woman, they were going to be disappointed.
My makeup was light but sharp enough to highlight my features.A thin eyeliner.Glossy lips.
And completed it with confidence.I wasn’t going to war looking like a mad woman.
No.
I was going there to show them my crazy side.
After booking a cab, I arrived at the hospital within twenty minutes. The building looked the same as I remembered.Cold.Sterile.Fake.
I paid the driver and stepped out.
The moment I walked into the hospital lobby, people turned to look.
Maybe it was the heels.
Maybe the ripped jeans.
Maybe the pure determination on my face. But I ignored them.My focus was already locked on one person.
I already knew where I was going.Straight to the nurse who had attended to me three weeks ago.
She sat behind the reception desk flipping through files lazily.
Her hair was tied neatly and she wore the same polite smile I remembered.
The moment she looked up and saw me…Recognition flashed across her face. Her smile froze.
“Hi Mrs Hale—”
SLAP! My palm landed across her face before she could finish speaking.
Gasps filled the room instantly.
Before anyone could react, I grabbed a fistful of her hair. She screamed loudly.
I slammed her face against the desk. Papers scattered everywhere like frightened birds.
“Security!” someone shouted.
But I didn’t care.I climbed onto the counter and dragged her toward me like a wild animal. Her body shook violently in my grip.
“Whose child am I carrying?!” I yelled.
Security guards rushed forward trying to pull me away. But I held her hair tighter. My nails dug into her scalp.
“Whose sperm did you inject into me, b***h?!” I screamed.
The nurse burst into tears immediately.
“I—I can’t! He will kill me!”
Her entire body trembled like a leaf in a storm.
“It wasn’t supposed to be his!” she cried.
“It was supposed to be someone else but I mistook his!”
The entire reception area fell silent.Even the security guards paused. My grip tightened.
“Oh, you want to see how crazy I am?”
My voice dropped dangerously low.
“I don’t mind killing you.”
I grabbed a surgical scissors from the tray beside the desk and pressed it against her neck.
Her eyes widened in pure terror.
“Please! Please!”
Her voice cracked as tears streamed down her face.
“It is… it’s—”
“Say it,” I hissed.
“Say the name.”
She sobbed uncontrollably.
“Mr… Mr Blackwood!”
The words echoed across the room. The entire hospital lobby went dead silent.
“You’re carrying Mr Blackwood’s child!” she cried hysterically.
My mind went blank.
Blackwood? Who is that?
What?
“What did you just say?”
A furious male voice thundered from behind me.
“You injected my sperm into someone?”
My body froze. Slowly…Very slowly…
I turned around. And my heart stopped.Standing there with burning anger in his eyes…Was Him.
Fate is definitely playing a game on me.
