DIVORCED

SELENA POV “Let’s go.” Kelvin didn’t wait for my response before turning away. But I didn’t bother replying either.Something inside me had already gone quiet.I knew it had ended. Completely. The desperate wife of Mr Hale is gone. I tossed the car keys toward him. He caught them easily, his reflexes sharp as always. “You can drive. I hate driving,” I said coldly. I didn’t look back to see his reaction.I simply walked to the passenger side and got in, slamming the door harder than necessary. Stupid. I was stupid to think he still had even a little bit of humanity left in him. Kelvin got into the driver’s seat a moment later. I felt his eyes on me briefly, but I kept staring straight ahead. Without a word, he started the car.The ride home was silent. Heavy.Suffocating. When we finally pulled into the driveway, I stepped out immediately without waiting for him. I was no longer the Selena who waited. The Selena who hoped. The Selena who begged. That version of me died today.I pushed open the front door. And froze. Laughter echoed from the sitting room.My heart dropped.Slowly, I stepped inside. My mum. My dad. Adriana…my younger sister. And the devil herself….Calista. They were all sitting there like it was some kind of family gathering. “I invited them.” Kelvin’s voice came from behind me. My throat tightened. So this was his plan. To humiliate me.To destroy me completely.I lifted my chin and walked forward anyway. “Hi Mum. Hi Dad,” I greeted quietly. They barely acknowledged me.Instead, their attention immediately shifted to Kelvin as he walked in behind me. “Kelvin! Son!” my mother exclaimed happily, standing up to hug him. My father shook his hand proudly. Adriana smiled at him warmly. It had always been like this. Sometimes I wondered if my parents hated me. Kelvin had money.Power.Status.To them… he was more valuable than their own daughter. Calista suddenly stood up and walked over to me.Her face lit up with that fake, sugary smile. “Hi bestie!” she squealed, grabbing my hands excitedly. I forced a small smile back.If I didn’t know the truth…I would still be falling for her act. My dad’s voice cut through the room. “Son, you called us here. Seems there’s good news?” Kelvin stepped forward calmly. “Selena is pregnant.” My heart tightened painfully. My mum squealed with excitement. “Oh my God!” Dad’s face brightened. “You finally did something right apart from marrying Kelvin,” Mum said happily. Her words stung more than the pain of the cheating. My worth had always been tied to Kelvin. To them, I was only valuable because I married him.Because he was rich. And the naive me who was blinded by love never saw anything wrong all this year's…I had always thought I should be grateful he married me. Great, I really deserve an award for being the most stupid lady, if it existed. “The child is not mine.” Kelvin’s voice cut through the excitement like a knife. The entire room froze.Calista even covered her mouth in fake shock. “She cheated,” Kelvin continued coldly. “And I want a divorce.” Before I could register it, My mother’s palm struck my face so hard my head snapped to the side. Pain exploded across my cheek. My hair fell across my face as the sting spread through my skin. “How could you do that?!” Mum screamed. “You betrayed your husband! After everything he has done for you—for us! You ungrateful bastard!” Her voice shook with fury. Dad’s face was dark with anger.Adriana looked horrified. “Mum, can you stop? Let’s hear from Selena—” “Shut up, Adriana!” Dad barked. His sharp gaze turned to me. “You will go down on your knees and beg your husband!” For a moment…Everything was silent. Then a dark chuckle slipped from my lips.It surprised even me.I'm not going to explain myself to them, not like they will even care to listen. “Just bring the damn divorce papers,” I said calmly. “Let me sign and drop all this drama.” The room went completely still. They stared at me like I had gone insane. They expected the old Selena. The naive one.The weak one. They expected me to go down on my knees and hold onto Kelvin, like he's my life. Too bad that's never going to happen again. “Do you even know what you’re saying, Selena?” Calista said softly. “It’s a f*****g divorce.” My eyes slowly turned to her.Cold.Sharp. “I’m not deaf,” I said. “You heard me.”I added calmly, “If you’re interested in him, you can have him.” Her smile stiffened. I walked to the table, picked up the divorce papers, and signed my name without hesitation. The sound of the pen scratching the paper felt like freedom. When I finished, I placed it down. Kelvin looked stunned. He expected tears.Begging.Maybe even crawling. But I wasn’t going to break for him again. “Don’t worry about my things,” I said as I walked toward the door. “I’ll send someone to pack them.” Behind me, my mother started shouting again. But I didn’t listen.I stepped outside. The air felt strangely lighter. I pulled out my phone and ordered a cab. I needed somewhere to stay.Maybe a hotel.Until I found an apartment. While waiting, a sudden craving hit me. Coffee.Strong coffee. There was a small coffee shop down the street, so I walked over.A few minutes later, I walked out with a hot cup in my hand. But just as I stepped outside….Bam! I collided with a solid body. The coffee slipped from my hand and splashed onto the man’s expensive black shoes. “Damn it,” a cold voice snapped. “That shoe is more expensive than your life.” My temper flared instantly.I lifted my head, ready to curse him out. But then our eyes met. My stomach dropped. Oh no. Him. The man from last night. His dark gaze locked onto mine. A knowing look flashed across his face. “s**t,” I muttered under my breath.
