Alexander I was feeling anxious; every time the man tried to explain, my heart raced. "What did she do?" His eyes locked onto mine. "She started going out less." I frowned. "Is that suspicious?" "No." His answer was immediate. "On its own, it's not…" I was grateful for that. An investigator who called someone suspicious for staying home wasn't a good investigator. He continued. "But I started noticing a pattern." He took the envelope from my hands and opened it. I think he realized I wouldn't. He took some photographs out of the envelope and placed them on the table. My eyes dropped. Vanessa entering her building. Vanessa leaving wearing sunglasses and a cap. Vanessa looking both ways before walking away. I frowned. "Is she hiding?" The man nodded. "Why is she hiding?"
