Jake’s POV
I only came home to shower and change, but even that had been long enough for both of my parents to step into the hallway and block me from leaving.
“You need to rest,” Mom said.
“You are only making things more difficult for yourself by pushing yourself like this,” Dad said. “Your enforcers are out there. You need a break.”
I shook my head. “Claire and Sienna could be out there right now plotting something against Amelia. I can’t just stay here and do nothing while they get a head start.”
“You won’t be able to help anyone if you are too exhausted to move,” Mom said with more determination than she usually showed. Typically, she left the scolding to Dad. This time though, she seemed extra dedicated to making me see her side of things.
