I could see with my own eyes now that this was Jake, as I had suspected.
Everything happened very quickly, not giving much time to react or even really process what was happening.
Our disguises started to wear off. Jake looked at each of us, realizing just who we were. Then his eyes fixed on Ruth.
“So it is you,” he said. “You are the one helping them.”
“I’m helping too,” Ian said indignantly, but Jake hadn’t given him any attention at all, not even after he spoke. I supposed it was obvious that Ian would have been involved.
Ruth though… Jake must have known her from working at his estate since he was a baby. From what he said, he made it sound like they had suspected her but weren’t sure. Well, now they had their confirmation.
