“No,” Jake said. “No way in hell.”
“I don’t know,” Lillian said, softer. “Perhaps it would be best for her not to remember all the hardships she has suffered. She’s been through so much. We… just want her to be happy.”
“She can be happy with us,” Jake said. “Her family.”
“She needs her mate,” I said firmly. My patience was wearing thin with him. I could understand where he was coming from, wanting to protect Amelia, but she was my mate, returned to me after a long absence. I would not be kept from her.
And I hadn’t forgotten how these people, her family, hid her away from me and her children for the past six years.
“She was fine without you for six years,” Jake snapped. “She’ll be fine again.”
