I was supposed to be focused on my date with Daphne, but I was so distracted by everything that was going on around us. I had nearly gotten Daphne killed because of my empathetic response to a known assassin and cold-blooded murderer. And still, the bear-shifter lived. Nash was ready to put her down on the spot, but Daphne is the one who stepped in and pleaded for Kodi’s life.
“Please, let me try to talk to her some more.” She pleaded, like the woman hadn’t just tried to throw a needle in her brain.
“She’s too far gone, Daphne. I know you are a wonderful, talented, caring psychologist, but Kodi is beyond saving.”
