TIA POV I wiped the back of my shaky hand across my brow. Not only was I exhausted from handling the pack's send-offs, but I was borderline ravenous with hunger. “What should we do, Meadow? It is too dangerous to stay in the packhouse overnight, but it would be dumb of us to leave this close to nightfall.” I looked at the horizon, and it was maybe an hour before nightfall took hold of the sky. Sunsets used to be my favourite time of day. I loved the colours, the calm, and the mesmerizing beauty. Until now, standing here, taking in the waning light of the sky, surrounded by blue flames, and accepting the ashes of the long past seemed to diminish the once-sought-after beauty of the horizon. I hoped that it wouldn’t always be this way. I have already lost so much; I couldn’t lose my peace
