By the time I wrapped up the last email and shut down my laptop, I felt exhausted. The drive home was surprisingly quiet. Leo had spent most of it talking about random things before eventually becoming distracted by the tablet in his lap. When the mansion finally came into view, I found myself relaxing slightly. Home. The driver pulled into the compound and parked near the front entrance. Before I could even unbuckle my seatbelt, another car drove through the gates. I immediately recognized it. Hayes’s car.
